Without Lisa, I'm kind of afraid that Jennifer would be in some back alley as a homeless person. Don't get me wrong, I love Jennifer, but I just worry about her sometimes. The only thing that actually bothered me was view spoiler [how quickly Jennifer assumed that because she's dating Alex near the end of the book she has to have sex with him soon. I was also bothered by how pushy Alex came off.
Come on, don't jump the girl. Also, Jennifer, just because you say no when he asks you back to his flat should NOT make him less interested in you.
I can't wait for book 2. Final kudos: Amazing cover-art. Sep 20, Krizna rated it really liked it. A girl with backbone! Smart and it shows.
Anyway, honestly speaking, seeing the title of this book, I was all braced for the romping and all the hoopla. Not to mention the guy being a control freak and the stupid girl, helpless. Your typical YA. Yes I was judged. Bite me.

I would give this a 5 stars but you see being this only the Volume 1, their story is a bit sketchy for me. By that, I mean, "so what story". Nothing to really keep me on my toes. But so far, it's all gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood especially with Alex' pheromones in the air. Jul 09, Mallory rated it really liked it Shelves: contemporary-romance , new-adult-mature-teen-romance , billionaire-rich. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it really was.
Jennifer is a girl after my own heart. She's smart and knows it. She's gorgeous and doesn't know it. And she's just spunky enough to want to make her your best friend. She had a tough upbringing and it seriously affects her relationships with men. She needs a job like yesterday, and in comes Alexander Wenn with an offer she can't refuse. Alex is 4 stars I got this as a kindle freebie, so I figured I'd give it a try and if it sucked then oh well. Alex is a billionaire of course he is and he needs Jennifer to play his girlfriend to keep the hordes of women away from him. He's all work and zero play.
The way Jennifer and Alex meet is very cute. And it just gets better from there. It's a slow buildup for them, even though the initial girlfriend job seems like a whirlwind. It's not an immediate jump into bed book which I totally liked. You have to get past Alex's steel exterior and Jennifer's reluctance towards men, and its definitely a challenge. But so worth the wait.
As for the writing, Christina Ross has great talent. No grammar or editing errors here.
And that's a pretty big deal breaker for me sometimes. This is part of a series and there's no cliffhanger, so thank goodness for that. I'd definitely recommend it, and I think it'll only get better with each book. View all 8 comments. May 21, Adrienne Robinson rated it did not like it. Definitely not a good quality book. So many things were repeated so many times I thought my Kindle was broken and showing me the same page over and over again.
The second "volume" was better, but still not worth my time. I would definitely not recommend this "series" to others. You'll be more frustrated than you will enjoy the quick and easy read. Was anyone else annoyed by the fact that the author put in every book that they weren't novellas, but novels? Obviously you know you're wrong so y Definitely not a good quality book. Obviously you know you're wrong so you think it makes it right if you pretend to know the difference between the two. Le Sigh. On to a book that will actually supplement and challenge me.
Jul 25, Indy rated it really liked it. Very similar to Fifty Shades. Innocent heroine from meager beginnings with a damaged past meets billionaire boss who has tragedies of his own to overcome. They begin to work together but as second volume unfolds, they start dealing with danger as a threat unfolds.
Really well written, very easy to read, somewhat unoriginal kept thinking been there done that, but reliving Fifty Shades again isn't exactly a hardship ;- Great sexual chemistry, intelligent root for characters, good supporting cast Very similar to Fifty Shades. Really well written, very easy to read, somewhat unoriginal kept thinking been there done that, but reliving Fifty Shades again isn't exactly a hardship ;- Great sexual chemistry, intelligent root for characters, good supporting cast members, attractive alpha male.
Would recommend! View 1 comment. Apr 15, Diane Hoover rated it it was ok Shelves: I'm going to write a honest review about this series, because it's about time some did. First and foremost, the book started strong. Jennifer Kent, armed with an MBA,great looks and smart head on her shoulders, can't catch a break in Manhattan.
She's barely making ends meet and is willing to take anything, including an admin assistant job at Wenn Enterprises. Enter Ms. What a hoot.
Annihilate Me, Vol. 1 (Annihilate Me, book 1) by Christina Ross
Tough as nails HR bitch and couture fashionista and things that come out of her mouth that will have you I'm going to write a honest review about this series, because it's about time some did. Tough as nails HR bitch and couture fashionista and things that come out of her mouth that will have your side aching from laughter. Their interview is one for the books. Needless to say, it doesn't end well. Enter Alex Wenn. Billionaire on a mission to close big deals in the business world.
He needs a companion to keep him on target at the social events and keep the money-hungry women away. Sounds like this book could really work, right? And then in Vol , there is a nasty plot upon their lives. Intriguing, huh? You'd be wrong. Because the first plot ends at about chapter 5 and there are still 25 more, along with four other books, and you still don't get the epilogue unless you want to read the Unleash series, which is a shabby copy and paste job of Annilihate Me.
It floors me that so many people gave these books 4 and 5 star ratings. I give the first book 2 stats for effort and the next several 1 for wasting my time and pissing me off.
Annihilate Me, Vol. 2
It's like the difference between the description of the house salad at the local diner vs a five star gourmet restaurant. Jennifer starts strong and interesting. A real go getter in the business world. But then she just becomes Alex's arm candy with significant baggage and trust issues. Yeah, sure, she's hot, with a quick mind and a good ability to slay her competition with her tongue but she loses steam FASTER than a car running out of gas.
Alex is a billionaire. Yep, and he grins.
